What Outdoor Hub Is

Outdoor Hub is a data aggregator. We collect publicly available weather, conditions, and location information from government agencies and open data providers, then present it in a single dashboard for your convenience. We do not generate forecasts, measure river flows, assess avalanche danger, or evaluate road conditions ourselves.

Every piece of data you see here originates from one of the sources listed below. We link back to those sources throughout the site so you can always verify the information at its origin.

No Guarantee of Accuracy

While we make every reasonable effort to display data faithfully, information can become stale, be delayed during transmission, or be affected by caching. APIs may return incomplete results, and automated systems can have outages. The data shown here may not reflect the most current real-world conditions.

Location details (GPS coordinates, trail distances, route grades, optimal flow ranges) are curated from public references and community knowledge. These values are approximate and should be cross-referenced with official maps, guidebooks, and on-the-ground observation before you rely on them.

Your Responsibility

Outdoor recreation involves inherent risk. Conditions in the mountains, on rivers, in the ocean, and at the crag can change rapidly and without warning. You are solely responsible for your own safety and decision-making. Before any outing, you should:

  • Check the original source for the most current data — we provide direct links on every page
  • Consult multiple sources and local knowledge, especially for backcountry travel, whitewater, and alpine terrain
  • Carry proper gear, training, and emergency equipment appropriate for your activity
  • Know your skill level and turn back when conditions exceed your ability
  • Tell someone your plans and expected return time

Limitation of Liability

Outdoor Hub, its creators, and contributors provide this site and its contents on an "as-is" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

We accept no responsibility or liability for any loss, injury, damage, or expense arising from your use of — or reliance on — information presented on this site. This includes, but is not limited to, decisions about travel, route selection, timing, gear, and personal safety in outdoor environments.

Data Sources & Attribution

We aggregate data from the following public sources. All data remains the property of its respective providers.

SourceData ProvidedUpdate Frequency
Open-MeteoWeather forecasts, hourly/daily conditions, marine forecastsEvery 30 min
WSDOTWA mountain pass conditions, road closures, highway camerasEvery 15 min
CDOT / CoTripCO pass weather (via Open-Meteo; road conditions via CoTrip link)Every 30 min
CaltransCA pass weather (via Open-Meteo; road conditions via QuickMap link)Every 30 min
Avalanche.orgAvalanche danger ratings, zone forecasts, problem types (NWAC, CAIC, SAC)Every 2 hrs
USGS Water ServicesReal-time river discharge (CFS), gage heightEvery 15 min
NOAA / NDBCOcean buoy observations: wave height, period, water temperatureEvery 1 hr

Location data (trail distances, climbing grades, river classes, skatepark features) is curated from public references including WTA, AllTrails, Mountain Project, American Whitewater, Trailforks, and other community resources. These values are approximations and may not reflect current trail conditions.

Activity-Specific Safety Notes

Avalanche Terrain

The avalanche forecasts displayed here are summaries from NWAC, CAIC, SAC, and other centers. They are not a substitute for reading the full advisory, understanding terrain, or carrying rescue equipment (beacon, shovel, probe). Take an avalanche safety course before traveling in avalanche terrain.

Whitewater & River Conditions

River flow data from USGS gauges is real-time but can lag behind sudden changes from dam releases or flash events. Optimal flow ranges shown are community estimates, not guarantees of safety. River difficulty changes with flow level. Scout rapids, wear a PFD, and paddle within your ability.

Surf & Ocean Conditions

Ocean forecasts are model-based predictions that may not account for local bathymetry, currents, or sudden changes. Buoy observations reflect a single point in the ocean, not your specific break. Never surf alone, and know the hazards of your local beach.

Climbing & Alpine Terrain

Route grades, number of routes, and area descriptions are approximate. Rock conditions change seasonally and after weather events. Verify current route information, check for closures, and carry adequate protection for your chosen discipline.

Road & Pass Conditions

Washington pass data comes directly from WSDOT. Colorado and California pass data shows weather conditions via Open-Meteo, but real-time road closures and chain requirements should be verified on CoTrip and Caltrans QuickMap respectively before driving.

By using Outdoor Hub, you acknowledge that outdoor activities carry inherent risks, that this site aggregates third-party data which may contain errors or delays, and that you alone are responsible for evaluating conditions and making safe decisions. If you find inaccurate data, please let us know so we can correct it.
